Chapter 5 Thoughts: Instagram

      Chapter 5 in the "Essentials of Social Media Marketing" textbook is all about how to use Instagram as a marketing tool. It breaks down all the little components of Instagram and suggests how others should use it to promote their business.

    The first bit of information that I found useful from the chapter was the demographic of Instagram users. The demographics show that the social media platform is much more prevalent for the younger generations. Specifically, it is very popular with people of ages between 13 to 17 and 18 to 29. This information along with it being more popular with women is important for businesses to know when trying to market themselves to the Instagram audience. 

    Another bit of information I found useful was how much Instagram has been growing and adapting to better suit businesses. Since the start of Instagram, it has been growing not only with the number of users but with the features it offers these users. Some things it has added that benefit businesses include business-specific profiles, a professional dashboard to better track performance, and the ability to post longer videos. This shows that Instagram wants to help out to make businesses more marketable and will continue to try and grow to do so.

  2. I agree that the demographics of who exactly uses Instagram the most is very critical for businesses to know. If they go without this information, then they can market a completely different and useless demograohic for their business. It provides a challenge for businesses to stay on top of trends within the youth world and figure out how to start the next one.
