First OAC Game of the Season (ONU vs Mount Union)

Following a successful non-conference schedule, ONU Men's Soccer played their first Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) game against Mount Union last Saturday. ONU was hoping to continue their seven-game unbeaten streak and start out the OAC with a win. To do this the team was going to need to be on their A-game against a very competitive Mount Union side.

The first half of this game proved to be very exciting, and the action started early. From the very first whistle, both teams came out with a lot of energy and the game was back and forth. Then in just the 4th minute, ONU scored off an own goal from a Mount Union defender. This lucky break for ONU gave the players even more of a boost and they put continuous pressure on Mount Unions' defense throughout the first half. Off this pressure, ONU was able to score two more first-half goals, while Mount Union was able to get one back making the score 3-1 at half-time. The second half started with just as much excitement, but not necessarily in favor of the Polar Bears. This excitement came from one of ONU's defenders getting a red card, putting them down a player for the remainder of the game. This put the ONU team in a difficult situation in which they were defending for most of the second half. They were able to handle this pressure until the 84th minute when Mount Union scored their 2nd goal to make the score 3-2. Mount Union did their best to score an equalizing goal but ONU stood strong for six more minutes to take the win.

ONU showed true resilience to come out on top in this game. They not only got a win but extended their unbeaten streak to seven games.

Go Bears!!
