What Makes Pinterest Good For Business

Chapter 8 in the "Essentials of Social Media Marketing" textbook is all about how to use Pinterest as a marketing tool. After reading this chapter, I gathered several reasons why businesses should use Pinterest to sell their products. Some of these reasons include Pinterest shopping and statistics of Pinterest users.

Pinterest shops are made to help business products be bought by users of Pinterest. Businesses are able to turn their product items into Pins where they can be grouped together and put into a Shop tab. The Shop tab makes it very easy for users to find a brand's items in one location and buy them straight from Pinterest. Another new feature added is 'Your Shop', where users have a shopping page that is tailored to their interests and activity on the app. This makes the shops an even better tool for businesses because their products are more likely to be noticed.

Many statistics of Pinterest users also make the app seem very enticing for brands. To start, the book says that 93% of the users on Pinterest use the social media site to plan purchases. This just shows that businesses should not hesitate to get their products on Pinterest for users to see. The book also states that 87% of the users actually buy items because of Pinterest. Once again showing why brands should be on the website. The last statistic I'll talk about is the gender distribution, which shows about 75% of Pinterest users to be women. This allows businesses to target a mostly women audience and can specifically target to the demographics on Pinterest.
