Podcasting Project

In my Principles of Social Media course at ONU, I was given the assignment to produce a podcast on an issue pertaining to class. I decided to team up with a classmate, Ryan Wightman, and interview someone on campus who has some experience with social media and creating content for social media. The person we interviewed was Andrew Thomas. Andrew is a freshman marketing major at ONU who does photography and videography work. He does this work as his own gig but also is doing some work filming ONU sports teams.

During the interview, Ryan and I asked Andrew about his experience with social media and more specifically with social media marketing. His experience, as I mentioned earlier, comes from him posting his photos and videos on several media platforms. His content mainly consists of sports for both photos and video. He uses mostly Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube to post this content. His target market tends to be athletes and parents of athletes because that is where he lands most of his gigs from. To do this, he does a lot of his advertising on Facebook to reach the demographic of parents which is better for his brand. He loves that social media gives him a chance for other people to see his stuff as that is his ultimate goal.

This was a great experience to learn from someone who is close to my age and has a big interest in social media. Big thanks to Andrew for giving Ryan and I his time and talking to us. Give the podcast a listen!

  1. Hey Cade, really interesting content here, as I've always wondered how some of the social media gets done for small D3 athletic programs like the ones here!
