OAC Success Continues (ONU vs Heidelberg)

Last week, ONU Men's Soccer came out with a record of 1-0-1 to remain undefeated for 10 straight games. This week marks their 2nd week of competition in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) as they faced up against Heidelberg on Wednesday and face John Carroll (JC) on Saturday. In their midweek match they were hoping to build momentum to play powerhouse JC and that is just what they did.

ONU started off the game against Heidelberg very comfortably. ONU was on the front foot and ready to score a goal at any time. While doing this, they were also limiting Heidelberg to almost nothing. The Bears first goal came in just 13 minutes, and they weren't looking like slowing down after that. They ended up grabbing a 2nd goal just minutes later. However, shortly after, Heidelberg was able to get a goal back with their first attempted shot of the game to make the score 2-1. ONU was able to score one more in this dominant 1st half to give them a nice cushion at half-time. The half-time message for ONU was to just to do more of the same. They needed to produce more goals, while also shutting down Heidelberg's chances. The ONU team was able to do just that. They were able to score three more goals in the 2nd half and hold Heidelberg to just 3 shots in the entire game. Although the team was happy with the 6-1 win, they were disappointed to give up the shutout.

ONU was able to show their goal scoring abilities in this one-sided game. They extended their unbeaten streak to 11 games and are now excited for their big game against John Carroll.

Go Bears!

  2. It has been a great year to be a polar bear and it is great to see the soccer team thrive so far this season. Beating Heidelberg is always a big win and to dominate by scoring six goals is only icing to the cake. Pulling for you guys to finish the season strong and to bring back an OAC championship.
