OAC Regular Season Champions (ONU vs Marietta)

Last Saturday, the ONU Men's Soccer team played its last regular season game of the season against Marietta. This game was also senior night and gave ONU the chance to win the OAC regular season, so it made for a very good atmosphere. This atmosphere was amplified by the great turnout of students and family to help support the team for this very big game.

In regular fashion this season, ONU started out the better team in this game. They managed to get a couple shots at goal within the first couple minutes of the game. This hot start made it evident that it was only a matter of time before the Polar Bears got a goal. The first goal came in just the 19th minute and the second came only a minute later to put ONU up 2-0. ONU continued to create chances and limit Marietta to minimal opportunities, but the score remained the same at the end of the first half. The ONU team was happy with their performance in the first half, but knew they needed at least one more goal to put the game out of reach for Marietta. In the second half, the Bears picked up where they left off. They were dominating the game on both ends of the field and looked eager to get a third goal and gaining that extra level of comfortability. This third goal did come in the 69th minute and it was looking more and more like a night to celebrate. With this nice lead, ONU was able to get in all the senior soccer players to play on their day. The game ended 3-0 with ONU getting their first OAC regular season title since 2015.

This game was a great accomplishment for the team for many reasons. Firstly, it continued their unbeaten streak to 15 games in a row. This win also put the team in a great place to hopefully make a deep postseason run. ONU's next game comes against Wilmington in the OAC tournament
 semi-final.

Go Bears!!
